DRANZSEN is on – Wednesday, September 1st, 2021!
What is that, you ask? The Disaster Resilience Australia New Zealand Schools Education Network (DRANZSEN) brings together representatives from education and emergency services, NGOs, universities, local government, and community groups. Event participants will explore effective models of disaster resilience education and supporting research with a focus on enabling young people to be ‘agents of change’.
And what’s this got to do with WMS? Well, following on from her presentation at the Floodplain Management Australia conference, our NSW Regional Manager Catherine Walker will be presenting at the forum to highlight the potential links between flood education and improving the gender imbalance in STEM subjects in the classroom and industry alike.
The 2021 National DRANZSEN Forum will explore:
• Educational program design and interactive technology
• DRE as a catalyst for increasing women in STEM
• International perspectives on DRE
• Youth voice and school-based interventions
